News : What's New for 2009-2010
The Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee recommended changes to the Student Health Insurance Program that have been approved to begin in Autumn 2009. Here's an overview:
Rates:
- There are no rate increases for the 2009-2010 plan year.
Eligibility:
- The Annual Insurance Selection/Waiver Deadline is September 15, 2009 for quarter students, and August 9, 2009 for semester (Law) students.
Note: the 15th day deadline no longer applies.
- Students who withdraw from school due to a medical condition may petition to be eligible for a second, consecutive off-term coverage period.
Benefits:
- A $100 In-network, annual deductible has been added.
- A $100 annual allowance for eyeglasses or contact lens provided by the College of Optometry at the Student Health Center or W. 10th Ave. locations has been added. This benefit is available for the student policy holder only. Dependents are not eligible for this benefit.
- The Well-Child benefit has been extended to dependents ages 10 years through age 18 years, up to a $250 annual benefit maximum.
- Coverage for acupuncture and/or massage therapy for a medical condition and received by a license provider has been added under the Physical Therapy/Chiropractic benefit.
- The Delta Dental PPO network has been added in addition to the Delta Premier network of dentists currently available.
- Access to the Wholehealth Network Discount program has been discontinued.
