Please use this document as a guide only. This is a general document that outlines standard limitations and exclusions.

Eligible Students have Three Choices:

Option 1) Comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan (default choice):

  • Includes Medical, Dental, Prescription, and Vision benefits
  • Low out-of-pocket costs
  • No co-pays and 100% coverage for selected services at Wilce Student Health Center (up to $2000 maximum--then paid at normal in-network rates)
  • Local and National provider networks
  • Convenient access to providers
  • Dependents may be eligible
  • Automatically added to your account statement as a simple sign-up

Option 2) WilceCare Supplement combined with your own insurance:

  • Designed to work with your own existing insurance
  • $2000 in medical benefits available at the Wilce Student Health Center
  • $500 in prescription benefits available at the Wilce Student Health Center
  • No cards/No paper
  • Wilce Student Health Center is not in most provider networks so the Supplement can help you avoid costly out-of-network bills.
  • Low annual fee of $187 paid once per year.

Option 3) Your Own Insurance only (you must submit an online waiver):

  • Evaluate the premium and benefits of your plan compared to the Student Health Insurance Plan.
  • Do you have a local network in Columbus? A National network? Worldwide coverage?
  • Check what the age limits for your parent's plan. Many plans terminate dependent's insurance as early as when the child turns 19.
  • Do you meet the credit hour limits to remain on your parent's plan?
  • Have you declared financial independence which may cancel your eligibility on your parent's plan?
  • Check the "What is Comparable Insurance" section of the website to be sure that your insurance meets the minumum requirements.
    • Note: Students' waivers are audited. If the information provided in your waiver is found to be inaccurate (or does not meet minimum requirements), the Comprehensive Plan may be added back to your account and you may be reported to Student Judicial Affairs.
