Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

10/3 Newsletter sent to SHI Benefits Plan Members

October 3, 2017

Greetings to our SHI Benefits Plan members!

Read this email for news and reminders.

  • CONSIDER A FLU SHOT: Flu shots are covered at 100% at many provider and pharmacy locations, including the Wilce Student Health Center's clinics in October and November. See more here
  • NO BUCKEYE SHOULD GO IT ALONE: If you or other students are experiencing distress, Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) can provide a safe and confidential environment. Contact 614-292-5766, and after-hours press Option 2 for immediate assistance to talk to a therapist.
  • TRAVEL COVERAGE IS INCLUDED: If you're taking a trip over Autumn Break, remember you have UHC Global Coverage included with the SHI Benefits Plan. (For our international student members, the additional UHC Global Coverage is not applicable in your home country.)
  • TRACK YOUR CLAIMS:  Secure member portals at HealthSmart and Delta Dental allow you to see coverage calculations for services you utilized and what your financial responsibility may be.
    • Go to  and click “Click here to view your claims.” Click “Create Account.” In the Member ID field, enter the SR ID number that's printed on your UHCSR card; In the Group Number field, enter the Group # on your same card that starts with “SU”. Complete the rest of the fields. Click “Register”.
    • Delta Dental: Go to > New User under Toolkits & Resources. Enter your name, date of birth, and Ohio State student ID number.
  • OPEN ENROLLMENT CHANGES ARE NOT QUALIFYING EVENTS: Many health insurance plans hold Open Enrollment in October or November when you can add or drop coverage for the upcoming calendar year. Remember that you cannot terminate your SHI Benefits Plan if you select a different health insurance plan during an Open Enrollment. See more here.
  • NO JANUARY 1 RESET:  Running totals for the SHI Benefits Plan, such as your payments toward a deductible or visits toward a therapy limit, do NOT reset in January. The policy year continues through August 13, 2018.
  • GET A HEAD START ON TAX COMPLIANCE: When you or your family begin to work on 2017 taxes, don’t forget that UHCSR has the responsibility to issue forms and IRS data confirming when you had SHI Benefits Plan coverage. Providing your SSN or TIN now makes this possible. See more here.
  • GRADUATING IN AUTUMN? Visit our graduating students page.
