Welcome to the 2024-25

Student Health Benefits Plan!

The Student Health Benefits Plan includes medical, mental health, prescription drug, dental and vision benefits!

WHAT’S NEW

United Healthcare Student Resources, the medical policy partner who issues your health insurance ID card and provides the health insurance will now be the company, (known as a third-party administrator or TPA) who will:

  • Process your medical claims.
  • Answer your questions about medical and pharmacy benefits.
  • Process your pharmacy benefits and claims and provide the pharmacy network through Optum Rx.

HealthSmart and HealthSmart Rx will no longer be the company, (TPA) to provide these services.

This change means information about your benefits, claims, the Prescription Drug List (known as a formulary) and customer service are in one place – your My Account that you set up with UHCSR.

 NAMES TO KNOW

The Student Health Benefits Plan partners with the following companies for your medical, pharmacy, pediatric dental/vision benefits, and adult dental benefits.

  • United HealthCare Student Resources – Underwrites the medical, mental health, pharmacy and vision benefits of our plan as well as providing additional travel benefits. Coordinates covered services and administers claims submitted by providers.
  • Optum Rx – Administers the prescription drug benefits including specialty medications and the prescription drug list.
  • Delta Dental - Underwrites and administers the dental benefits for members 19 years and older.

UHCSR MY ACCOUNT Member Portal

Your My Account member portal from United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR) allows you to access and/or manage:  your member ID card, benefit and coverage Information including Policy Documents, Important Messages, Medical and Prescription drug Claims, Member Balances and other plan benefits.

Access My Account through your web browser or through the UHCSR app on your mobile device.

TO DO LIST

  •  Set Up your MY ACCOUNT with UHCSR
  • Your Member ID card is important and available through My Account – you will need to show this every time you get medical or mental health care or fill a prescription. Be ready - have it available on your mobile device or print one and carry it with you to show providers.
  • Returning Members – you MUST create electronically or print a new ID Card for this year. If you use your ID card from last year, your health insurance claims will not pay correctly.
  • Respond to all Messages in My Account. Sometimes, UHCSR may require additional information to process your claims. If you do not respond, it may delay or prevent payment of your claims.
  • Get your Delta Dental ID card. Visit our member ID page for more information and step-by-step instructions.

Need to fill a prescription this week? It may take up to five (5) business days before United Healthcare Student Resources has your information. What should you do?

  • Ask the pharmacist to fill a smaller initial amount and pick up the rest in a few days.
  • Ask the doctor for a short-term sample.
  • Pay for the cost of the prescription and submit a form for reimbursement.

For more information on ways to save on prescription drug costs, visit the this link in the Articles section of the Student Health Insurance website.

FIND THE RIGHT PROVIDER

A covered service does not always mean it is free. Some services may require you to pay a portion of the cost (your cost share) – such as a deductible, copay, or coinsurance amount. Your provider choices can help you save money by reducing these out-of-pocket costs (cost share).

Visit our Health Insurance Literacy Tool to help understand these terms.

Visit Find a Provider  to see a listing of Tier 1 and Tier 2 providers, and for dental, a list of campus, PPO or Premier network dentists.

When you are seeking medical and mental health care, you will save the most at Columbus campus providers designated as Tier 1 (where many services have no cost share):

For a list of providers designated as Tier 2 (some services have a deductible, copay, or coinsurance) visit:

Seeing providers in Tier 3 or Tier 4 may result in much higher out-of-pocket costs.

For adult dental, your network locations are Delta Dental PPO/Delta Dental Premier Networks.
