    • ?HealthSmart may contact you by mail to ask for information.  Please reply promptly.  Your lack of response may delay or prevent payment of your claim(s).

Your provider choices can help you save money.  Visit shi.osu.edu > Find a Providerto search your tiered options.

  • When you are seeking care, you will save the most at Columbus campus providers designated as Tier 1 (where many services are no cost):
  • If those facilities are not available, try providers designated as Tier 2 (some services subject to a deductible, copays and coinsurance):
    • OSU Health Plan Network inside Franklin County
    • UnitedHealthcare Options PPO and United Behavioral Health networks outside Franklin County
  • Seeing providers in Tier 3 or Tier 4 may result in much higher out-of-pocket costs.
  • For adult dental and secondary pediatric dental, your network locations are Delta Dental PPO/Delta Dental Premier Networks.

Your prescription benefit follows a formulary.

  • A formulary is a list of covered medications organized by how they will be paid. A link to the formulary is available here
  • To fill a prescription, use the Wilce Student Health Center Pharmacy or a retail pharmacy in the HealthSmart RX Network.
  • Specialty medications have a separate formulary and coverage and must be filled by Accredo Specialty Pharmacy. Your doctor sends the prescription directly to Accredo and then you call 1-877-222-7336 to coordinate shipping.  Accredo does not have storefront locations.

More about Pediatric Dental:

  • UHCSR provides primary coverage for members under 19 years of age, and Delta Dental of Ohio provides secondary coverage. Dental providers can seek reimbursement payments from both HealthSmart and Delta Dental, which can in turn, reduce your financial responsibility.
  • How it works if you are under 19:
    • Ensure you utilize a dental provider who is part of the Delta Dental Premier and PPO Networks, including Student Health Services or College of Dentistry Student Clinic.
    • At your appointment, show them both your UHCSR and Delta Dental Member ID cards. ?Ask the provider to submit claims initially to HealthSmart (via the information on the back of your UHCSR card) and secondly to Delta Dental.

Medical and Mental Health Online resources available to you:

The medical policy partner, UHCSR offers two online resources for non-emergency medical and mental health care.

  • Healthiestyou provides you with round-the-clock access to board-certified physicians.  When you are unable to visit the Wicle Student Health Center during open hours, they can connect you with a board-certified physician using this nationwide telehealth service.

  • New for 18 -19BetterHelp  is a confidential virtual counseling service, providing access to Psychologists (PhD / PsyD), Marriage and Family therapists (LMFT), Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Professional Counselors(LPC). These professional licensed counselors are available to you to schedule an appointment and decide on a communication method that best suits your needs: including ongoing text communications, live chat, phone, video or groupinars.

  • Both of these services are available as an additional resource to the care you have available on campus at the Wilce Student Health center and/or Counseling and Consultation services.   Go to www.telehelp4students.com for more information.

You can travel with confidence.

  • You have UnitedHealthcare Global coverage for travel and medical assistance, evacuation and repatriation when you are 100+ miles from home. Note: For International Student members, coverage is not active when you are in your home country.
